Viettel’s Leader roles as the Chairman of Vietnam - Africa - Middle East Business Forum
At the Launching ceremony of Leaders and Advisory Committee of Vietnam - Africa - Middle East Business Forum, Vice president of Viettel Group, Mr. Le Dang Dung has been selected to be the Chairman of the Forum.
As the Chairman of the Forum, Mr Le Dang Dung shared Viettel’s practical experiences of doing business in the markets. In Viettel's view, once investment is made, it should then be deployed quickly in a decisive manner. Initially, as much possible dependence should be put on yourself rather than your partner.
Currently, Viettel has established Movitel – a joint venture between Viettel Global Investment Joint Stock Company (holding 70% of the stakes) and Mozambican partner SPI&Invespar.
Assessing the Africa and Middle East markets, Le Dang Dung affirmed that these are potential markets for Vietnamese enterprises. These are huge consumer markets with a population of approximately 1.3 billion people (1 billion and 300 million people in Africa and Middle East respectively). In particular, while Africa is a continent that is very rich in natural resources and is a virgin market, Middle East is an upscale market with abundant financial resources. Moreover, these markets are very appropriate to Vietnam. Local people there have good feelings towards Vietnam. And Vietnam enjoyed well established relations with many countries in Africa and Middle East. Viettel’s leader expected the African and Africa would become as familiar as home markets for Vietnamese companies by the end of his first term at the Forum (2011-2015).
The Forum was set up on the basis of the Vietnam – Africa Business Forum that was initiated by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in order to promote available advantages to support Vietnamese enterprises to develop cooperation with African and Middle Eastern countries.
