Viettel commits a long-term partnership in relieving “agent orange pain”
Attending the launching ceremony of “Action for victims of agent orange/dioxin in Vietnam” movement held by The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Viettel’s Vice President Duong Van Tinh confirmed Viettel’s active response to the movement as well as other social, charitable and humanitarian programs in the year 2011.
In the last 2 years of 2009 and 2010, Viettel has donated VND 10 billion (around USD 500,000) to the Fund for Vietnamese victims of agent orange/dioxin (launched by Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent orange/dioxin) and over VND 700 million (around USD 350,000) to the Fund for Vietnamese victims of agent orange/dioxin launched by the Ministry of Defence since 2006.
“The donation by Viettel is moderate compared to nearly 5 million victims of agent orange/dioxin in Vietnam who are in need” ”However, this represents the whole hearted and sharing from Viettel’s staff to help disadvantaged people relieve their pain” said Viettel’s Vice President.
This action is among other various activities by Viettel to specify its philosophy of “integrating social responsibilities into its business” In the past years, in addition to donating the victims of agent orange/dioxin, Viettel also spent VND 100 billion or USD 5 million annually to conduct a series of major programs, including “A heart for you” “Operation smile”, “Reunite people with their lost relatives” , building gratitude houses and build Cemeteries of Road 9 and Hang Duong, etc……
